Music creates a bridge for people to move out of thinking, and into presence.
At Magnolia Manor we believe in the use of music as a healing tool that may slow the progression of dementia.

Music is a miracle to our participants with Alzheimer's, who may have lost the ability to communicate.
It seems to transcend their dementia, unlock their brain, and allows them to increase their awareness, and most importantly connect with others, thus helping to normalize interaction between caregiver and participant.
Studies have shown that the results of a music therapy session last for several hours afterward, and the results include elevated mood, increased socialization and appetite, and a reduction in agitation. This attributed to the stimulation the brain receives during a music therapy session, or a cognitive workout, reminding us of an old adage: “What exercise is to the body, music is to the brain.”

David Ott, will perform for our participants in house Magnolia Manor, Fort Walton Beach, Florida on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 @ 11:00 A.M.

He has recently founded Music For Healing Foundation Inc.
His mission: to promote physical, spiritual and emotional healing by providing live performances of classical and sacred music to those who are in need, and to make known the power of music to accomplish healing.
